We are in a lovely area of the south of Dumfriesshire between Lockerbie and Gretna Green. This is a rural charge with 2 large villages (Ecclefechan and Eaglesfield) and 3 small (Waterbeck, Middlebie and Kirtlebridge). There is good road and rail access to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle, all within an hour and a half; Carlisle and Dumfries are half an hour away by road and the market towns of Annan and Lockerbie are only minutes away. The area has a bus service although Middlebie and Waterbeck are not adequately covered by this. The Lake District and the Solway Coast are a short drive away. There are three primary schools plus nursery education and toddler groups in the charge and there is easy access to secondary and further education with university campuses at both Dumfries and Carlisle as well as an agricultural college. This is an excellent area for walking, there are several golf courses close by, fishing, bowling, swimming, curling, ice skating are all available in the area. There is a doctor and healthcare facilities in Ecclefechan.
