The Charge

The Charge consists of two parishes, Hoddom and Middlebie; four congregations, the union of Kirtle/Eaglesfield, linked with Middlebie, Waterbeck and Hoddom. All have now adopted the Unitary Constitution. There are five Churches, each having a fortnightly service which equates to a pattern of 2 or 3 services each Sunday (the 3rd service is covered by adequate pulpit supply). There are short services in the 2 retirement homes in the area on the first Sunday of each month. Where possible, joint services are held on special occasions.

A Sunday School has recently been formed at Eaglesfield and a Cool Club for primary school children has been formed and meets monthly with around 40 children.  This is being run with the assistance of a youth worker and a congregational facilitator from our presbytery. We have also had 2 joint services in March to try out cafe style church.  This was well attended and with a little modification could become a regular event.

The roll of the charge is around 388.
